Markets in Lanzarote: where to go and when

Markets in Lanzarote are part of the island’s rhythm. Each one feels different depending on the place, the day, and the people who visit.

Some are mainly designed for visitors. Others are still very local. And a few sit somewhere in between.

Knowing where to go—and when—makes a big difference.

Teguise Market (Sunday)

This is the largest and most well-known market on the island. Today, it is almost entirely focused on visitors.

You can still enjoy it, but timing matters. If you decide to go, arrive early—around 9:30am or 10:00am.

Later in the morning, large tourist groups arrive and the atmosphere changes completely.

We don’t recommend visiting the market and the village at the same time. Teguise is much more enjoyable during the week, when it’s quiet and you can explore it properly.

Haria market (Saturdays)

If you’re looking for something similar to Teguise, but calmer and more authentic, Haría is a good option.

It’s smaller, less crowded, and still keeps a more local feel.
You can walk around slowly, talk to the artisans, and enjoy the surroundings.

After the market, stop in Haria for local food at El Mercado

Agricultural markets

Some markets are more focused on local life and fresh produce.

  • Mancha Blanca (Sunday)
  • Arrecife (Saturday)

These are places where locals go to buy fruits, vegetables, cheese, and other local products.
They’re less about souvenirs and more about everyday life on the island.

Marina markets

There are also small artisan markets in coastal areas:

  • Puerto Calero (Friday)
  • Marina Rubicón (Wednesday and Saturday)

These markets have a different atmosphere.
They take place by the sea, surrounded by boats, with a slower and more relaxed pace.

They are generally quieter than other markets and easy to combine with a walk along the marina.
